Salaried GP

30 Lauchope Street, Chapelhall, Airdrie ML6 8SR

Hello

We are looking for a salaried GP to join our team. We are ideally looking for 4-5 sessions per week to be covered in total therefore welcome any applicants who are able to offer part or all of this requirement. We have experience with newly qualified GPs and as such also welcome interest from current GP trainees or First 5 GPs looking for a well supported role. We would also be happy if applicants wish to arrange an informal practice visit to get a flavour of our friendly working environment and to learn more about our well organised and flexible working week.

Remuneration is negotiable however salaried GPs can expect £10,000/session/year. Number of sessions and working days are negotiable and can be discussed. The practice does not provide extended hours or out-of-hours service.

Each session comprises 12 appointments: a mixture of remote and face to face. All GP appointments are 15 minutes in length. Our GPs enjoy a healthy work / life balance.

GPs deal with their own bloods and Docman letters. Admin workload is minimal as all docman is streamlined by our excellent administrative team, and we are fortunate to have the Airdrie pharmacotherapy hub to action our discharge letters and medication related docman. Additionally, we utilise a modern digital dictation system and video-telephony system both accessible remotely from home via smartphone app.

Minimal home visit commitment: Practice usually has max 3/week and almost all are dealt with by our ANP. Home visits for palliative patients are done by the patient’s allocated GP to provide continuity of care for these patients. The practice does not cover any nursing homes or care homes.

The successful candidate can expect annual and study leave as per BMA contract, and indemnity cover through the practice group scheme.

If you are interested in being part of a friendly practice team which focuses on delivering a high quality multi-service approach to patient care then we look forward to hearing from you. Joining our practice team is an excellent opportunity to develop your career and we encourage the pursuit of specialist clinical interests. We are a long-standing teaching practice and are happy for applicants to become involved in teaching if this is desired. See ‘About Us’ below for more information. We are flexible on start date and are willing to wait for the right candidate.

About Us

We are just off the M8 at Eurocentral.

We are a long established practice within own premises in large village setting covering around 7400 patients.

In our team we have 4 GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners and 1 Nurse Practitioner. The Health Board also supplies us with 2 Pharmacists, Midwife, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Community Link Worker, and Healthcare Assistants who provide phlebotomy services and Chronic Disease Management within our own premises. We have access to treatment room services supplied by the Health Board.

We have a large group of fantastic administration staff that support us in our working day.

We have taught Medical Students from Glasgow University for over 25 years and continue to do so. Recently we have started training HCP medical students from Edinburgh University. We have started the process involved to train FY2 doctors. We also trained our current Advanced Nurse Practitioners.

Before Covid we moved to a GP triage system which has allowed us to offer longer appointment times whether remotely or face to face. GP appointments are 15 minutes in length and ANP appointments are 20 minutes in length. We want to reassure any successful GP candidate who is not experienced in triage that they will not be expected to be involved in triage from the outset. We are happy to provide support and training to any doctors who request this prior to undertaking this role in the practice. One of the benefits of our triage system is that all clinicians have advanced warning of a patient’s presenting symptoms prior to starting the consultation which helps to prepare for the consultation.

Everyone within the Practice works together as a team to improve patient care which is reflected in our patient surveys and in the feedback we receive from staff.

We are an innovative Practice always looking at ways in which we can improve.

We look forward to hearing from you.
