NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The role:
The GP Walk in Centre is based at Cardonald Health centre in South Glasgow and will provide urgent primary care services to the local population. The service aims is to improve access, reduce pressure on GP practices, and minimise inappropriate Emergency Department attendances by offering rapid access to same-day assessment for patients unable to secure a GP appointment.
As the first point of clinical contact the Primary Care Nurse will identify and escalate acutely unwell patients to the GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner and assist in medical emergencies, including Basic Life Support when required.
We are seeking motivated and experienced Registered Nurses with a background in Acute, Emergency or Urgent Care settings. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and triage skills, and the confidence to work autonomously in a fast paced primary care environment, while effectively collaborating within a multidisciplinary primary care team.
