LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR TRAINING (LAT) SPECIALTY REGISTRAR (ST4)

MEDICINE FOR THE ELDERLY

Available from 06 August 2025 04 August 2026

£45,504 - £71,550 per annum (basic, placement depends on previous recognised experience)


The Role

Applications are invited for the above fixed term full time training post in Medicine for the Elderly at the Borders General Hospital, Melrose, Scottish Borders.

The post is recognised for training at ST4 level and national eligibility criteria apply which include having passed all parts of the MRCP UK examination (written Part 1, written Part 2 and PACES) and full GMC registration with a licence to practice. Please see full details in the Job Description.

We offer excellent experience for those considering a career in Medicine for the Elderly. There will be opportunities to gain experience of the general management of in-patients in the Medicine for the Elderly ward, clinics, stroke medicine, front door frailty, day hospital, community hospitals, hospital at home and liaison. You will provide a proportion of out of hours activity including as a Team Leader on the Hospital at Night Team rota, and the rota attracts a 1A banding (50% supplement).

There will be opportunities to participate in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, perform quality improvement projects and be involved in Medical Education (specifically in Simulation).
