An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Salaried GP to work across Marywell Practice and the Integrated Drug Service following a redesign of Marywell Practice, which has been the Homeless Practice within Aberdeen City for over 20 years. As a 2c Practice, this is managed by NHS Grampian / Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership (ACHSCP).
Marywell Practice is a GP Practice for the homeless and for those with multiple complex needs with a list size of around 200 patients. Some patients have substance/alcohol addictions and/or mental health conditions. An interest and experience in supporting patients with multiple complex needs would be advantageous.
Working closely with the Integrated Drug Service who are based at Timmermarket to blend the services to ensure a more seamless and collaborative whole system approach to healthcare for vulnerable adults with multiple complex needs who may also require additional support to manage their addiction to substances in Aberdeen City.
This is also in line with Scottish Government Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Standards to reduce drug deaths in Scotland, which were implemented from 1st April 2023 to provide better and quicker access to drug treatment programmes and reduce barriers to commencing treatment.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking GP to provide high quality care to our patients and service users in an environment of warmth and understanding. Previous relevant experience with homeless patients and those with multiple complex needs is desirable as well as qualifications in RCGP training on drug misuse treatment (ideally Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse Part 1).
The role will also include supporting and working in the Direct Access Clinic at Timmermarket to provide rapid access to drug treatment and on-going support therefore will require some cross working between both services.
The practice operates under the General Medical Service (GMS) contract for General Practice, the Strategic Plan for Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership, the National Health and Wellbeing Outcomes and other relevant professionals to ensure the implementation, development and delivery of safe and effective, person-centred systems to enable maximum operational efficiency across Aberdeen.
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org
Informal enquiries are encouraged. If you would like further information, please contact Dr Mairi Hope mairi.hope@nhs.scot
A visit to the practice can be arranged on request.
