Are you bored with the monotony of 9am-6pm days? Are you are stalled with the routine of working the same work pattern week in week out? Maybe you aren't feeling the benefit of your off-shift days because they are squeezed in between long working days?? Or perhaps long days in General Practice, often working into the evenings, is taking its toll on family life?
If any of these scenarios sound familiar, then you should read on.....
The Lorn Medical Practice in Oban on the beautiful west coast of Scotland is looking to break the mould and redefine GP work patterns. Based on our successful approach to GP working in our Isle of Mull Practices, we are looking to appoint GP's to come and work for us in Oban on annualised hours contracts. Simplistically, we are offering the opportunity for GPs to work in blocks of weeks and in return, we will give you a block of time off shift to do those very things that your present role might be preventing.
So...perhaps you fancy working 4x weeks on-shift and then having 4x weeks off? Or maybe you currently work part time every week and would prefer to work full time for a week and then have a full week off? Or maybe you have always fancied a change of scenery, an opportunity to swap urban Practice for rural Practice, but other commitments such as your partner's career, your children's schooling, your reluctance to sell your family home and relocate has been a barrier? They needn't be issues and we can help you overcome those potential barriers.
The Lorn Medical Practice is offering a great opportunity for you to join our fantastic team. And alongside innovative work patterns, we can also provide comfortable furnished accommodation so that you have a base here in Oban whilst you work with us, without you having to uproot your home and belongings. And if you want to bring your immediate family, we can accommodate that too. At the end of your block of work, you return to your 'home' and enjoy well earned time off to do all the things that conventional GP working can prevent.
Oban is the 'Gateway to the Isles' and the 'Seafood Capital of Scotland'. Outdoor adventure is the name of the game here with a wide range of outdoor activities and sports available locally, as well as excellent restaurants, bars and a rich culture and history.
The Lorn Medical Practice has developed an underlying commitment to providing high quality care for our patients and is a previous Quality Practice Award winner from the Royal College of General Practitioners.
The Practice has a very strong training ethos and commits to providing support to both medical and nursing students, as well as post-graduate training. We also support the GP Rural Fellowship Scheme. We are proud that many trainees return to our Practice as Salaried or Partner GP's.
We also provide GP services on the Isles of Mull & Iona, which widened the experience of clinicians and other staff and creates a strong base for the island practice to rely on.
If you are interested in working in a wonderful part of the world, supported by a partnership that is enthusiastic about training and development, without having to necessarily move your entire life to the area, please contact us for more details.
