We are situated in the historic coastal town of Arbroath which is on the East coast mainline to London and has convenient links to the rest of Scotland. We are surrounded by spectacular scenery, countryside and villages in the Angus area which produces an abundance of berries in the bright summer months.

 

There are fabulous beaches and a marina nearby with sailing clubs, kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing along with hill walking in the glens and skiing, nearby.  We have lots of historic buildings in the area including our own Arbroath Abbey where the Declaration of Independence was signed.

A typical GP day:

  • 8am – 8.30am Admin slots
  • 30am – 11am – Surgery 12 slots – mix of telephone (10mins) and face to face (15mins)
  • 11am – 11.30am Coffee!!
  • 30am – 12noon Daily huddle (inc signing scripts) – attended by GPs, ANPs, DNs and other MDT members attached to the practice
  • 12noon – 1pm Admin/Home visit
  • 1pm – 2pm – Lunch
  • 2pm – 3pm Admin/Docman
  • 3pm – 5.40pm – Surgery 12 slots – 2 urgent/visit slots, 10 mix of telephone (10mins) and face to face (15mins)
  • Medication/Med3 slots at end of afternoon surgery if in a whole day. Otherwise these are at the end of the morning when on a half day.

 

A little information about our practice:

  • Vision and Docman
  • 9,700 patients
  • 3 GP Partners & 1 Salaried GP, Regular Locums, 3 ANPs, 3 PNs, 1 HCA
  • Daily triage undertaken by our ANPs
  • A mix of 10mins telephone and 15 mins face to face appointments (longer if needed)
  • Daily huddle meeting to discuss home visiting and support wider team
  • Admin/Docman and home visiting time scheduled
  • Workflow optimisation is in place.
  • Extended hours provision – GPs and ANPs cover this
  • Chronic disease management undertaken by our PNs
  • In-house Minor Surgery, Coil/Implant fitting and Joint injection clinics
  • Specialist interests encouraged
  • Direct access physiotherapy, In-house Mental Health and Wellbeing/Listening services, well established MDT meetings, Pharmacy support, Social Prescriber
  • Strong links with Medicine for the Elderly and palliative care team
  • We are a training practice with 5th year undergraduates, FY2s and about to commence specialty teaching.

 

We are looking for people who will work well with our multi-disciplinary team and who can help drive the practice forward and keep it relevant for the future of general practice in our area.

 

We have a great relationship with the other practices in the town via our cluster group meetings and very much see this as a positive in the future delivery of care for our collective patients.  We would be keen to have people who are interested in developing these relationships further with quality improvement as the focus.

 

You should be educated to MBChB or equivalent, fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice and hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent.
